Root Canal Treatment

The nerves in heavily damaged teeth or traumatised teeth can die and cause severe toothache and infection.

At this point, you have two choices.  One is to extract the tooth.  The other is to save the tooth by performing a complex treatment called “root canal treatment”.

Root canal treatment aims to remove the infection to effectively sterilise the tooth. While success rates of this treatment are very good, the complexity of the treatment means that no one can give a 100% guarantee that the treatment will be successful in clearing the infection.

There are a number of factors that need to be considered before undertaking root canal treatment:

  • The most important factor in Dr Delac’s opinion is whether there is enough tooth structure remaining to allow the tooth to be rebuilt successfully after root canal treatment is completed
  • Size of the infection
  • Whether the canals are very narrow or curved making them difficult to clean
  • What protective restoration will be the most appropriate solution for your unique situation

Dr Delac can assess your individual needs and tailor a treatment plan in response to your oral health and your budget.
